Waiting for toast is much like dating
It all goes great
When you put your bread in
Walk away
Get on with your day…
Then come back after a while
To find your toast
Popped up
Ready to enjoy!
The excruciation begins
When you take that troublesome decision
To wait beside the toaster
For the duration of ‘the toasting’
How minutes seem to turn to hours!
How much importance this bread seems to take on!
Eyes fixed on that metallic grill,
That delicious toast aroma filling the room,
Mouth watering…
It is as if nothing else in the entire universe matters at that moment !
That entirely glorified square of starch!
As with dating…
When you put your emphasis on some person
And begin to pay too much attention
And get too attached
To an experience
That was only ever meant
As a snack.
